Fantasy and Science Fiction for Children and Teens
Description:Kale was a slave in the village of River Away, until she finds a minor dragon egg. Now she is no longer a slave; she is sent to the grand city of Vendela where she is to be trained in the Hall in the service of Paladin. But before she can reach Vendela, she is captured by ogre-like creatures called Grawligs. Rescued from the Grawligs, Kale finds herself propelled on an adventure, joining a Quest to rescue a great dragon egg from the evil Wizard Risto. Along the way, Kale begins to discover her own talents, and to learn the true meaning of love, faith, responsibility, and service.
Mom's rating: 4.0 wands Mom's Review:Christians will appreciate the Christian principles that are an integral part of the story; non-Christians can still enjoy a good adventure story about a girl finding herself as she and her companions battle the evil that threaten their world. The story is exciting and moves along well, and Kale's quest for the truth is uplifting. Dragon lovers will especially enjoy this story; the minor dragons Gymn and Metta are charming, and readers will be touched by the plight of the larger dragon, Celisse.
