Fantasy and Science Fiction for Children and Teens
Description:When Charlie finds that he can hear the voices of people in photographs, his evil aunts and grandma are delighted, but he and his mom are horrified. Charlie Bone lives in a house paid for by Grandma Bone and the three Yewbeam Aunts. He lives in there with his mother (his father is deceased) and his other grandma, Maisie, and his strange Uncle Paton, who is very solitary and is also the brother of Grandma Bone and the Yewbeam Aunts. Neither Uncle Paton, his mother, nor Maisie, have a cent to pay for anything. The Yewbeam Aunts and Grandma Bone pay for everything, so Charlie has no choice but to do what the Yewbeam Aunts and Granma Bone want, and go to Bloors Academy, which is for genuises and the endowed, like Charlie, who all have special powers. But soon at Bloors dangers lurk everywhere, and not all is as it seems.
David's rating: 5.0 wands David's Review:Good book. The plot is very original. I like the idea of Bloors Academy not being just a school for magic, but most of the children are "normal." Only a few are endowed. I like the portrayal of the characters.
