Fantasy and Science Fiction for Children and Teens
Description:Natalie has lived her whole life next to Unicorn Woods, but she never suspects that within the woods is a portal to another world, a world called Earthaven where spells literally grow on trees. She also doesnt realize that she has a connection to that world, or that she herself has magical abilities, until she is kidnapped by an evil spellcaster, Lord Hawk, for his own nefarious purposes. Natalie must try to escape from Lord Hawk and save Earthaven before Hawk and his spellclave can destroy it.
Mom's rating: 4.0 wands Mom's Review:Spellfall is an entertaining book for anyone who loves books about magic. The world of Earthaven is an interesting one, and the adventures of Natalie and her friends and her step-brother Tim are exciting. The biggest weakness of the book is that Natalie is a much less interesting character than some of the other people in the book. I found her step-brother Tim, Merlin, the conflicted son of Lord Hawk, and Claudia, Lord Hawks reluctant second-in-command to be much more interesting as characters. Even so, the book is enjoyable and worth a read.
