Fantasy and Science Fiction for Children and Teens
Description:Another year at Hogwarts, but this year, things are different. First of all, Harry gets to go to the Quidditch World Cup with the Weasleys before the start of term. Once at Hogwarts, he finds out that there will be no Quidditch this year at Hogwarts - instead, Hogwarts will be hosting the triwizard tournament, and students from other wizarding schools will be staying at Hogwarts to participate in the tournament. In the midst of all this, Voldemort returns, with his own nefarious plans.
Mom's rating: 4.0 wands Mom's Review:This is my least favorite of all the Harry Potter books. First of all, in my opinion, it is unnecessarily violent. This is definitely not a book for younger children. Secondly, I think that the Quidditch World Cup sequence is too long; we don't even get to Hogwarts until about a fourth of the way through the book.
Still, even the least of the Harry Potter books is far better than most books, and there's plenty to like about this book. The triwizard tournament is interesting, and there's plenty of excitement and adventure. There are some interesting new characters, and some old favorites, including Dobby the House Elf.
