Fantasy and Science Fiction for Children and Teens
Description:Set in a slightly futuristic world, LionBoy tells the story of a boy named Charlie Ashanti, an ordinary boy except for one thing - he can speak Cat. When Charlie's parents are kidnapped, Charlie sets off to find them. He is pursued by Rafi, a villanous teen who participated in kidnapping Charlie's parents. Evading Rafi and seeking his parents, Charlie soon finds himself on a circus ship, where with his ability to speak Cat he quickly becomes the circus' lion boy, assistant to the Lion Trainer, Maccomo. While the circus becomes a temporary haven, Rafi is still after Charlie, and Charlie still needs to figure out why his parents have been kidnapped and find them.

Mom's rating: 4.5 wands
Mom's Review:A good book. The story moves along and is pretty exciting without being overly scary. The descriptions of the places Charlie visits are vivid, and the cats are especially amusing. The lions are majestic, and their plight will move you. Zizou Corder (really a pseudonym for a mother-daughter team) obviously really loves animals, and any animal lovers will appreciate this book.
