Fantasy and Science Fiction for Children and Teens
Description:Things seem to be going fairly normal for the world... That is, until a cloaked figure with glowing blue eyes, and a seeming resistance to bullets, shows up in front of the White House. After several secret service agents assault him unsuccessfully, he begins to speak of a flare of evolution that is coming. A burst that will give rise to new and strange creatures on all corners of the earth. Then, the superhuman being, calling himself "Strand", leaps to the top of the White House roof in a seemingly impossible feat, then leaps off into the distance. We soon learn Strand is a scientist, who made a grave mistake, and an amazing discovery. He now feels himself bound to protect the innocent, but the entire world gives no heed to Strand's warning, and instead see Strand himself as the threat. As strange and dangerous new creatures arise, and Strand repeatedly tries to warn the world, he finds that he must take on everything... with everything at stake.
David's rating: 5.0 wands David's Review:Great book. Very creative and imaginative, as well as fast-paced and exciting, with some spice of humor thrown into the mix. The science is believable, and the story is thrilling. A wonderful book, read now! There are two scenes that are slightly- gory, but these should only be inappropriate for younger children. Don't let that deter you- read!
