Fantasy and Science Fiction for Children and Teens
Description:Fourteen-year-old Cosmo Hill lives at Clarissa Frayne Institute for Parentally Challenged Boys. This is no ordinary orphanage, though; the boys at Clarissa Frayne are used as guinea pigs to test new and potentially dangerous products. When Cosmo almost dies escaping from Clarissa Frayne, he begins to see mysterious blue creatures preying on humans, sucking out their life force. He is saved by the Supernaturalists, a group of misfit kids who can also see the blue creatures, and Cosmo joins them in their quest to save the world from the Parasites, as they call the creatures. Together, the group battles the parasites, until they discover that things may not be the way they seem.

Mom's Review:Eoin Colfer has created a fascinating but dark vision of the future, in which corporations rule and and paralegals are commandos. Science fiction fans will enjoy this intriguing story with many twists and turns. It's very different from the Artemis Fowl books, but just as well written and enjoyable.
