David's Review:

Great book! I suggest this book for ages 9-12 and up! Reading level is fairly comprehensible, with many surprises in store. The younger audience might be afraid of the cover, but it is not as scary as the cover makes out.

Mom's rating: 4.5 wands

Mom's Review:

Don't be fooled by the fact that the main characters in this book are mice - this is no cute fairy tale, but a dark and slightly macabre fantasy of mythic proportions. It's not a story for the sensitive or faint of heart; there is much talk about the rats peeling and eating mice and in one scene a couple of mice actually find mouse skins left by the rats (thankfully none of these belong to characters in the book). But less squeamish children (and adults) will love this tale of unlikely heroes overcoming their limitations and finding the courage to confront a huge and malevolent evil.
