Fantasy and Science Fiction for Children and Teens
Description:When Le Fay McNally makes it to the finals of the Tap 'n' Type typing competition, little does she know that the competition will lead to her brother's death. Fergal McNally falls to his death from Le Fay's hotel room on the first page, and the rest of the book tells the story of the circumstances leading up to his death.
Mom's rating: 4.0 wands Mom's Review:A group of orphans, bad things happening, a book written in a humorous way - no, it's not THAT series. To tell the truth, the children aren't really orphans, only half-orphans, because their father is stil alive. But for all the care that they receive from their father, they might as well be orphans.
At first, this doesn't seem like a fantasy. Most of the story is concerned with mundane, although funny, situations such as bus rides, hotel rooms, and press conferences. But there are mysterious things going on - why is there an epidemic of holes suddenly appearing? And there are a few surprises before the end of the book!
The book is light-hearted and fun (although there is quite a bit of gruesome detail about Fergal's death) and there's plenty to laugh about.
