George Bush

George Bush...I know how many people Dislike him, and so did I. But, I think we have been treating him horrible! Yes he was president during 9/11. So? If Al Gore was president instead of bush you would've treated him like Bush. Things like the war in iraq is just an excuse for us to be mad. Not saying that I like all his ideas, it's just we shouldn't be so evil towards him. It's not like he's a Richard Nixon. I know we have lost loved ones during the war, but they died with pride. I'm sorry for this all of a sudden, it's just over vacation I have been doing some reading about politics.

We aren't stil alive, America's pride and overall the lifes of many of our troops.

9/11 happend on his watch.
Gas prices shut through the roof by his complete idea.
Many troops have been killed, on his watch.
He continued the war.
[80%of Politions say he is the worse president we ever had]
We failed to through him out.
He doesn't even know what he's doing, I would be shocked if he knew the 50 states, the capital of each and each one's Govener.(Without somebody helping him)
Just about everyone who voted for him regrets it after their son comes home in a cardboard box.
Plus, he only has a few months left.

But when they started

But when they started hearing that stuff like 9/11 MIGHT possibly happen, they still didn't increase security at airports and stuff. If they had, 9/11 might not have happened.

"Check and mate, Daniel!"

"Check and mate, Daniel!"

While Bush was on vacation, he had information that a terrorist group might attack the US and he did nothing about it. And how can you not hate him after he basically sent a bunch of troops to their DEATH in Iraq? And for WHAT? WHY are we in this war? There were no WMDs. Is it for oil?

Don't eat my head off xD

Oh, now you're in for

Oh, now you're in for it...

Long story short: Bush is a lying scumbag who can't even speak English properly.

Now onto the more articulate arguments...

No one hates him BECAUSE 9/11 HAPPENED, but because of the way deceitful way he handled it.

The war in Iraq is not even a proper war at all, and was merely an excuse for Bush to go in there and finish what Bush Sr. started in the Gulf War - yeah, remember that? The GULF WAR?

Okay, he's not Nixon, but he's WORSE, if that's possible. Nixon was a lying *******, but so is Bush, and at least Nixon used proper grammar...

NO ONE IN THE WAR DIED WITH PRIDE BECAUSE THE WAR ISN'T HELPING ANYONE! These people died for nothing, and whenever I think about that it makes me so sad. My aunt's friend is in the army, and whenever I hear her talk about her, I'm hoping she's able to leave.

And I won't even bring up the Patriot Act, which is such an infringement on basic human rights. I quote Benjamin Franklin... 'He who is willing to sacrifice freedom for temporary seftey deserves neither freedom nor saftey' - those are the truest words I've ever heard, and I agree with them completely.

And by the way, he's an idiot because he obviously can't speak proper English. He's so utterly stupid.

Actually, Kitten, we're NOT all still alive. And during no president's term has the entire country dropped dead, so are they ALL good?

I don't care if I get flamed - OKAY, I DON'T CARE? Politics are a big issue with me, and not the place to be polite, as it's the 'fate' [don't believe in it, but w/e] of our nation that's handled by them. Not a time to be faint of heart.

Odd presidency? Odd?

Odd presidency? Odd? That’s hardly the word I’d use for it. Before I rant, I will say, yes, you are probably right that we shouldn’t hate him. I have a friend who (without supporting or opposing him) argues that sending all that negative energy toward him is counter-productive. She is probably right; we should send hope & prayers. But I can’t. I think he has been far more destructive for the country than Nixon (don’t get me wrong – Nixon was a nasty person & he was a crook – but he did not do real damage to the country, just to our psyches, our trust – which may have done us a favor ultimately – no longer naïve & gullible – well one would hope).

My real fear is that he is not an idiot at all, but just plays one on TV, so to speak. That he is doing just what he’s there for. Some weeks it seems that hardly anything comes out of his mouth or his White House in general that isn’t a lie.

Oh Kitten, the fact that we are still all alive is no reflection of the damage he has done to our economy with this war, to our standing in the world with this war and with the snotty attitude he and his circle had to the rest of the world over it . Listen to people interviewed every day who talk about their financial hardships, then hear him say in an interview at the Olympics that he doesn’t think America has any problems (or maybe it was troubles). I heard it come out of his mouth!! Then I turned off the TV. As for he IS still the President, I say that’s our misfortune. I can respect the office, but not this officeholder. Please don’t take this as an attack on you; you know it’s not. You know I think very highly of you. But we are miles apart on this, & I get very emotional about what I see in this country since he became President. He has been bad for us.

I’ll be back.

i really don't want to get into this... but too late lol... you guys should know me as the conservative around here... bush is not doind a stellar job for this counntry, i'll admit, but he doesn't deserve what you guys are throwing at him. on the speaking issue. if he makes a few mistakes, so what? if he can still lead this country, speaking isn't what truly matters. and as for 9/11 happening on his watch, that would have happened on gore's watch had he won the election. it would have happened to anyone who got elected. don't be one of those crazy people who say bush orchestrated that. please. and greyeyes, as for not kowing what the 50 states are, at least he knows there are 50. Obama seems to think that there are 57. Gas prices rose the most when the liberal congress came in. and i agree, we have been in iraq too long. we should have gone in, but not this long. tim to come home and beef up or security. with a militia.

I fully agree with you,

I fully agree with you, Losty. I find the Iraq war pointless. It was a war that we shouldn't have gotten into. I'm not exactly sure what the Gulf War was, but here's my take on this:

9/11 was terrible and unbelievable. It killed so many people that there was a lot of hate going around to the people that caused it. We wanted to get revenge on these people, or at least catch them.

I think Bush took this as a chance to go to war. He generated fear in us over something that wasn't even really true. He made us scared that the terrorists were going to attack again so that gave us an excuse to go into war so that we wouldn't get attacked.

And look where it got us. Did we find anything in Iraq? No. It wasn't our business over there. I believe we should have left the country alone.

And plainly, Bush is a terrible speaker. I'm sorry, but it amazes me what he says sometimes. Or it makes me laugh. Either way.

That's my take on this war and Bush.

Whoa. An Inconvenient Truth is on. *watches*

I don't want to offend anyone, and this is just my opinion.

Alright...

I must disagree with many of you. To those who think we shouldn't hate Bush and that he did the best job he could- I highly disagree. To those who think we shouldn't hate Bush- I agree, to some extent.

It's true that Bush was president during 9/11, but part of the President's job is to make sure that something like this doesn't happen. Now let me pause and ask you, do you think that he did that just as well as other people might have done? Did he do everything in his power to prevent it?

Now, let's say that something like that DOES happen during your presidency- either because you made a blunder before and didn't stop it or because there was frankly no way to prevent it, -the president's duty is then to protect the country from more of these events with minimal expenditure of resources and life. Do you think he did THAT as well as other people could? Do you think that he saved us all from a horrible fate?

Over the last several years since 9/11, we've lost many soldiers- I'm not sure the exact amount, but I believe that not long ago we were losing roughly seven thousand soldiers a day in Iraq, -In Iraq, which now isn't even anything to DO with the terrorists! We have overthrown Iraq's government, for reasons known only to our glorious upper government, and done many other senseless things that only brought pain to many and deepened our national debt.

So, did Bush do a very good job with his presidency? Not really, I think. Should we hate him? Frankly, it's pretty hard not to, but hating someone won't help anything. It's really hard to avoid hating him for some people, and it's often harmless expression of opinion. Is hating him the best thing to do? Probably not, but sometimes, if it doesn't hurt anyone, there are better things we could do with our energy then using it to not hate President Bush. And hey, who knows- under different circumstances, maybe he would have been a good president.

Good point, Grayeyes. Many of the troops are not still alive. Without Iraq, some of them would be.
The oversights and whatever else that allowed 9/11 to happen probably started before Shrub. The actual attack was early in his “rule.” He didn’t “continue” the war; he conceived of it & started it. Or maybe Dick Cheney did. And I absolutely think it was for oil – partly. I don’t see us carrying out “regime change” in the African countries that aren’t lousy with oil. Or in Myanmar… or….

On the subject of the olympics, I must tell a story. A couple years ago me and my family went to see this Wright Brothers celebration where they built a plane in basically the same way the Wright Brothers would have, and tried to make it fly. Part of the program was it said that President Bush was going to come to "experience the celebration". Here's what happened. About twenty minutes before they were going to launch it, President Bush arrived in a helicopter and gave a little speech. Then- he jumped back in his helicopter and flew away without even sticking around to watch the launch.

READ IT ALL IF YOU HATE

READ IT ALL IF YOU HATE GEORGE BUSH... CUZ I'M PROBABLY GONNA GET FLAMED LOL But I'm ready for it... *sighs* oh well...

9/11 would have still happened even if they tightened security. Yea it would feel like they were doing something, but how can you find men highjacking a plane? Okay that came out wrong... How do you read their minds about highjacking a plane? Are you sure they had knives on them? Omg I'm so ignorant it frightens me obviously they had some kind of weapon... but are you sure they would have found it?

Don't flame me, I got like 4 hours of sleep last night and when I read this tomorrow I'll smack myself in the head... its just I don't blame George Bush for letting this happen. Yes he's been under a lot of stress, yes he could have done things better.

But it's passed everyone! It was in 2001, this is 2008. We can't fix it, we can't say "What if we did this?" We have to accept it, and see if we can fix this poor excuse for a country that we made it today. WE not just George Bush.

Look I don't disagree with the war. Yes... they need to be taken out because Iraq is doing well now. But look... our world is SO MESSED UP, that every step helps us get there.

Killing millions of people does that seem right? Probably not at the time. But what about in 5 years? 10 years? 100 years? How many kids won't starve of... starvation because the dictators were killed? How many families will be reuinited? Okay... Look I HATE US FOR NOT HELPING RWANDA. God knows I will never forgive the USA or any of those other ******* countries for saying they're not important.

We screwed up this world so bad, that I see no chance of it being recovered. At all. But if we can start saving things that we messed up, I'd call that success.

No war isn't the ******* answer... but if you talked to those soldiers, would you go up and say "The war is wrong, and you're killing yourselves for nothing." NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

GOD NO! Why would you say that?! Hmmmm?? They're over there because what they think they're doing is right. If George Bush was drafting I would be furious, but its willing men going to fight for our country and a lot of innocent people.

So instead of saying George Bush sucks and we need a new president, why don't we focus all this anger and energy into helping someone? Okay? The USA is messed up, war, starvation, disease, because all our energy is set on killing people and getting revenge!

Look I don't agree with George Bush in a lot of things, but we need to face the facts today and not what happened 7 years ago. Yes the war is happening right now, but complaining about it won't help. And don't say I don't care for people over there because my friend's fathers, my church's youth group kids, people I know and love are over there fighting for us. If these people who made nuclear bombs to kill millions of people would turn that to curing cancer, making more food, actually doing something useful... geez we would be so much better

Sparkle, somebody ELSE would obviously have become president if Bush were not here.

Ghrhshhshrehw I hate Bush x.x I'm on another forum, one that has people from around the world, and the amount of people claiming that we have a sucky country is very very high. And you know what? It's /true/. Not only are the American people fat self-centered idiots who RE-ELECTED Bush after a horrible job first time around, but even with that we don't /have/ a reputation with other countries. The only thing anyone can say that's good about us is the fact that we're free. That's probably it. And even the other forumers from America agree that pretty much everyone else is a idiot. Somebody's location in their profile was "NW England. But I want to live in the USA!" My reaction every time I see that is "fjsjdwijd no you don't." Heck, I practically want to live in England (though I love the US despite the Bush and other ****) because this country is... well... you know what I mean.

My cousin and I were channel-surfing last week and we saw a Newsweek cover that read "What Bush Got Right".
Me: That'd be a very thin book.
Cousin: That book would have no pages. The first no-page book.

I don't know much about politics or what exactly has happened to the world since Bush became president (aside from war + gas prices + 9/11 if that's his fault), but that doesn't mean I can't still hate Bush. I'm seriously hoping the US can gain its rep back with Obama as president.

In a nutshell, though, the world (mostly America) sucks. Badly.

Back from band camp, at least for now~

Thank you, Lightfrost, that

Thank you, Lightfrost, that really means a lot to me =)

And now... to the debate... XD

Okay, I also agree that it's in the past. Nothing I've been arguing about really has to do with 9/11. I don't blame him for 9/11. It's about his exploiting of it. Yes, he used it and all who suffered from it as an excuse for going to war. It makes me ******* sick. If I can move on, so can ******* Bush. Sure, he thinks it's easy to make everyone afraid so they'll listen to and agree with his ****** up wars and ulterior motives, but he's just a sick human being. How can that ******* think that that's okay?! I was ******* THERE when it happened! I had to watch those buildings burn to the ground when I was in second grade! And just because I was watching it on CNN from a safe location didn't make it any less traumatic. For weeks all I could smell was ash, fire, and people - burning... people... it was so ****** up... I LIVE in New York, I know what it feels like - how that can that little ****** think it's anywhere near okay to feed off of our fear?!

*takes deep breath* Okay, had a bit of a psycho moment there... moving on...

Many soldiers don't go over there because they believe war is the right thing - some go in because the army pays for your education. I'm not saying all, but it's a big perk that can be the deciding factor.

Yes, the US is so ****** up, it's unbelievable. But right now, we can't do much. We're under-age, we can't really do anything of importance. So we're letting our opinions out, using our right to free speech. I rather think this arguing is good practise for the future. Debating is good practise for future lawyers, and almost all politicians used to be lawyers, so I think forming for yourself a strong and opinionated political identity will help you in the future. So if I ever run for office (lol XD) I'll know where I stand because I vented early on and found out for myself exactly where I stand on important issues.

I would stay here if

I would stay here if Obama/president after him could manage to salvage the reputation of the US and at least make us look like a decent country, although this is such a ******-up country that I would probably leave anyway. (I already decided that I should travel overseas to Europe and other continents to learn more about their countries, so why not just settle for one country *coughFrancecoughcough* and stay there?

Unless the US can regain all the former glory (because I think that yes, it did have glory before recent years) before I turn eighteen.

I don't know much about any country (heck, I don't even know much about THIS country), so I could be wrong. x.x

Sometimes, I wish I would

Sometimes, I wish I would just die so I can get away from America. I hate this country so much, and I hate it more and more when the olympics come on. I mean, we ONLY interveiw Americans, which I think is racist(countyist?), and I see other counties interveiwing people not from their teams. COME ON!! I mean, if we DO interveiw them, why didn't they air it??

Losty, omg... I thought it was bad enough I lost relatives in 9/11, but for you to have to be IN THE SAME CITY!?! Omg...

Wolf: Haha, finally, I'm not

Wolf: Haha, finally, I'm not the only one who wants to die for that reason v.v

I'm not suicidal, I just hate the majority of the US. That's all there is to it.

Yowch, Losty. I can't imagine how bad that must have been. x.x

Yeah, there should be a word

Yeah, there should be a word for that- countryist.

And yeah, it just makes me sick. I'm not suicidal either, but if there was ever a reason I would want to die, it would be that for my entire life, I'll be labeled 'American'...

Yeah, for a second grader... it was pretty messed up. It was... disturbing... I mean, it left a serious mental impression...

Wolf, you lost relatives in 9/11? I'm so sorry... *doesn't know what to say*

My problem with 9/11 is not

My problem with 9/11 is not that it happened - I think it's easy to say in hindsight that someone should have taken the threat more seriously. My problem is the way that 9/11 has been used since then to justify everything from the Iraq war to the erosion of our civil liberties. Since 9/11, the government basically has free reign to do things like wiretap citizens and demand that libraries turn over records about what books you check out.

And I agree that countryist is a good word. We Americans do tend to have a very narrow view of the world.

Reedfrost: Gas prices are not set by the congress – or the President.
Yes, 9/11 possibly would have happened under another administration provided they ignored the signs & warnings that this one did – and they might have because governments are not that different at the core, sadly. I don’t think we should have ever gone into Iraq to get Saddam. And I recently read where one of the “neo-cons” (so this article said) associated with this administration said there was no “exit strategy” for Iraq because they never intended to leave… something to think about. I’m more inclined to think 9/11 was just dumb luck for this administration & what they wanted to do from the beginning of their time in office (yes, I mean go into Iraq as well as things like the Patriot Act & all the executive orders & such that have given way too much power to the President – though not as much as they want) and not orchestrated by them. But you never know.

Ruby: I think you hit the nail on the head, girl.

Magic: Did the administration do all they could to prevent 9/11? I don’t think so. Did he do that as well as others might have? Maybe. Maybe not (see above). Has Bush saved us from a horrible fate? We have avoided a horrible fate, but I am pretty sure it’s NOT because we invaded Iraq. And it doesn’t seem to be because of extraordinary security measures by Homeland Security among others. From stories we hear over & over again, there are HUGE holes in our homeland security. Are we just lucky or are the terrorists not up to or ready for another attack?

The number of US soldiers killed – total so far – is just over 4,000. The Iraqi count is far, far higher & impossible to arrive at.

I think the “war on terror” has given George the opportunity to be even worse than he would have been without it, but there are many strong allegations that this administration came in with designs on Iraq, a strong drive to vastly increase the powers of the President (this has long been a goal of Dick Cheney), to shrink liberties here and invade the people’s privacy.

i really hate bush i think

I really don't like how Bush handled 9/11. I think after the attack he could have done a lot of things differently.

He could have handled it

He could have handled it better, but, 9/11 was something No One expected Could happen to the US.
It was never even thought possible before that.
My opinion, he did the best with what he was hit with.
