Sorry, but I've never owned a cat, nor know anything about it. I'm sure many of the cat-owners in the site can help you out, though =]

I have three cats at the moment, what do you need to know?
before you tell me the specifics, the only thing i can reccomend is checking out several cat care books from your library. they give very good advice :)

congrats on your first cat!!! He looks like my cat, Rocky!! Rocky is dark gray and white with long fur and has a white stripe going down his back.
How old is he? If he is still a kitten, think about feeding him the Science Diet. ;)

Aw, he's cute! I agree that
Aw, he's cute! I agree that you should get a book, but here's a couple of suggestions:
- You need a cat litter box right away, or you'll have messes. You can buy cat litter and a plastic litter box at any pet store. There's all different kinds of litter, so you may need to try a couple to find out what you and/or your cat likes.
- You need cat food. There's dry and there's canned food. We used to feed our cats both, but the vet told me that the dry food is unhealthy and fattening, so we only feed them canned now.
- It's most important that you take the cat to a vet and get it checked out. If it was living outside, it may have worms and/or fleas, which would need to be taken care of. It may also need shots. At the very least, it must have a rabies shot. It may also need to be spayed or neutered.
Er, you probably figured out from this message that owning a cat can be expensive. I hope that you can afford it.

Sheila is so right, but do
Sheila is so right, but do you still have the cat now? I never hear you talking abotu it...This why I prefer fostering, you get all the benefits of a normal cat, don't have to pay a thing, and get a warm fuzzy feeling when you see it go off to a good home
