FEAR
I know that there is no point in worrying about the possibility of a sleet & ice storm Monday & Tuesday for the next 2 ½ days, but whenever I think about it, my stomach knots into a little ball. I am unable to keep myself from the dread. It was enough to have COLD weather to “look forward to,” (no comments allowed from all you up-northers. I HATE TO BE COLD! and temps staying in the 30’s for highs is COLD), but then they started to forecast the ice & I started to shrivel. I don’t know any way to get over the fear. I start to feel dread when September arrives because I know what’s coming. *big deep sigh*

It never gets cold down here. Actually, it does. Which means I walk around for a few months in two sweaters, two jackets and a scarf thats twice as long as me and look like a fool... but I love cold weather! Yes, read a book, write *shot*, sleep (a lot !!) cook, I'm not sure if you like to but cooking is a good way to get your mind off stuff. So uh yeah...

A simple solution to all
A simple solution to all your worries. MOVE TO HAWAII!!! XD (wow did I say simple? o.O It's a solution but not simple) Anyways I live in NE and we get cold weather a lot. I wouldn't be able to live somewhere tropical because I LOVE SNOW! That's why I want to move farther up north to NH so I can almost always have a white Christmas. And I think you could say to yourself "Well it may be about thirty outside for a bit of winter but at least it's not average 20s and 30s all winter long!" (and we can easily get into the teens and single digits around here as well and a couple weeks ago it was in the negatives! O.o)

I'm really sorry, Cmoon. Is
I'm really sorry, Cmoon. Is it driving in the ice that scares you, or the ice itself? Do you know why you're so afraid? Did anything ever happen to you in the ice? Fears can sometimes be irrational but that doesn't make them any less real, and trying to deny them sometimes makes them worse. Just accept that you're afraid of the ice, and do your best to deal with it. I'm sorry that I can't be more help. I hope that you don't get an ice storm. If you do, hang in there. *hugs*

Tangle: I’m in Tulsa –
Tangle: I’m in Tulsa – right up here in the lovely belt between real snow (easier to drive on) & the warmer regions. Yeah, it was 71 on Thurs. and yes, winter stresses me. If I didn’t have to go out in bad or super cold weather, I’d be okay.
Rainfall: That’s why I don’t live in Vermont, whose politics I usually love. I hate the cold, but don’t fear it. It’s driving on icy streets that just freaks me out. Hawaii has the PERFECT weather for me, but it’s WAY too expensive for me anymore.
Sheila: No, & I used to be able to handle the snow & ice just fine. Maybe I’m just getting old… But I’ve felt like this for at least 15 years. For years before that, I lived in Hawaii & Los Angeles. I’m not very daring any more – with anything, but that’s another whole discussion. I don’t like slipping & sliding around the streets. I hate to have to go out earlier than usual in the cold to scrape the windshield or, if I have covered it, which I usually do, to peel that off & fold it up.
I basically do as you suggest. By Thurs. it will be past – for this time – but it seems a long way off right now. I have been pretty busy around here this weekend & not thinking about it.

The news channels here are
The news channels here are all like "There's a big winter storm coming! Run for your lives!" (not really, but close enough), but then Weather.com and NOAA are all just like "Um, it's going to rain and be wet, and there'll be a bit of sun, and maybe some snow. You can go now."
I believe the latter... it's kinda funny, the disparity in the predictions.
At any rate, I'm looking forward to the rain, because we need it. After the huge storm in December we've hardly had any precipitation at all. After like two weeks of sunshine we got a small dusting of snow yesterday morning and some rain the previous night, but that's about it. -_-
Hope your storm doesn't get to bad. If it is, you can give it to me. :D

Spirit: 2 weeks of sun in
Spirit: 2 weeks of sun in the winter where you live? I would be dancing in the street. You don’t want this storm. It started early afternoon yesterday – light steady freezing rain. It sleeted overnight so things are white but it’s a thin coating. I don’t know what’s falling now (ooops, I forgot to watch the noon news…) but it’s still falling! Even when it finally stops late today sometime, it will be nightmarish tomorrow morning, just getting the ice off the side windows (I covered the front & back, but haven’t figured out how to cover the sides). It will be an unpleasant morning. If it stops early enough today, I’ll go work on it this afternoon. It’s staying below freezing for at least another day, so forget melting. OK, I’m stopping now with that cause I’m really hungry & therefore more easily depressed. I’ll just try to enjoy my holiday.
Rainripple: It’s probably around that here. I think it’s supposed to be about 27 today. Are you in Canada (who else does temps in celcius, eh?)? It’s just not right for us this far south to have similar temps to Canada!
Looking forward to 50’s on the weekend.
Bad news: (& WAY off topic) John Updike has died - of lung cancer. Too bad.
