Adder's worried :( *EDITx4* We FINALLY know what's wrong..

My cat, Sugar, is just seeming to get weaker by the day now. She hardly ever moves anymore, which is very unusual for her. She's 11 years old, we believe. I don't know what to do. Should we take her to the vet to get her checked out? Should we just leave her be? I know this just might be old age kicking in but.. I don't want her to leave me. Not now. I'm just not ready for that yet. But I also don't want an unnecessary trip to the vet. Please give me some advice, guys. ~Adder and Sugar
*EDIT*
She went to the vet today. Her temperature was normal, X-ray was normal, but the blood work showed a couple of elevated levels. She also lost a pound since she's been there. But nothing that would lead her to a diagnosis. They gave us the option of leaving her overnight in the hospital or letting them give her subcutaneous fluids and a dose of amoxycillin, (even though the white blood cell count wasn't elevated) and sending her home with us for observation. We chose to take her home with us, and the doctor gave us some antibiotics to give to Sugar. However, if she isn't better by Wednesday, it's off to the vet or her again. Let's see what happens, and I'll keep you guys updated. ~Adder and Sugar
*EDIT*
Sugar has Pancreatitus. We'll keep giving her antibiotics and keep track of her eating and drinking, but other than that, there's nothing we can do :( Good news is she's finally coming home today :)

you could take her to the vet. They might know how to make it easier on her. But thats mainly just part of getting old. My cusin has a cat that is 17/18 years old and he struggles to stand. If she has a feeding routine you fawllow evrey day don't change it. elderly cats and dogs get confused when their feeding time has been changed and they may not eat.

I've had this happen to a LOT of my pets, too.
But it was a different reason for all of them, I think....

I'm sorry. *hugs* I hope she's going to be ok. I would go to the vet. 11 years is not really all that old for a cat. My cat is almost 20. Something could be wrong, and it's better to get it checked out, and they might be able to do something.

take her to the vet... five of the eight cats i had lived to be 17 or 18 before showing any signs of health problems. (two of the cats are still alive- both about 1 or 2 years old and the other one died at 13)
Of corse all cats are different but you should still take her to the vet just incase its something bad.

We have a plan to take her into the vet tomorrow, if they have room. She's getting worse. Now she's not even responding. She's eating any treats I give her, but I can't remember her eating any real food we've recently given her.

My suggestion is - after the
My suggestion is - after the antibiotics are finished - get some acidophilus (unflavored - I use capsules & mix the powdered contents into canned food) & re-populate her little gut with good bacteria - which the antibiotic will have killed off with the bad guys. I hope she gets better fast.
If she doesn't drink enough water - cats tend not to - make ice cubes out of the water in canned tuna, Most cats will lap it up as it melts & get water that way.

Aw, I hope she's okay Adder. Same with Sheila; my cat is almost Twenty, too... Heck, it could be 20 already. I hope she's okay once again.

We gave her some antibiotics last night. They didn't appear to help, because today, she's not eating or drinking..

Have you tried giving her
Have you tried giving her canned cat food? My cats have always loved that.

We don't give them canned
We don't give them canned because it makes them puke XP She got worse. We took her to the vet to stay overnight, where they'll get some fluids into her so she doesn't get dehydrated, and they'll try to get some food in her too. They're going to do more bloodwork too. I also found out more specifics about her last bloodwork. Apparentally there was a little more pancreatic activity than usual, and a potassium deficiancy. Guys, I am officially very, very worried, not to mention concerned. She's been with me my whole life, I can't remember a time without her, and she's only eleven. I hope so badly she will be alright in the end :,(

I'm so sorry Adder, I will keep Sugar in my prayers. I know what its like to have a special bond with a cat, and then for them slipping away from you...but I hope Sugar won't slip away from your family. -hugs-

Well, I'm staying home again, and sugar has to spend yet ANOTHER night at the hospital. This'll be her third night without us, and I don't want her to think we abandoned her, so we're going to visit her :) They're going to do a more specific test on her pancreas, since that's where the most activity has been. Fingers crossed, guys!
