Somewhat strange yet interesting statistic

The average living space in Hong Kong is 1700 SF (more space than I live in).
There are 6.5 billion people on the planet.
If you gave each one 1700 SF of living space, the entire human population could live in TEXAS.

[From Jim Marrs, author of Crossfire (the Kennedy assassination) and many other books – and a Texan. He went on to say…”not that I want them coming here. Don’t start moving to Texas!”]

Wow, that's just...wow. Of

Wow, that's just...wow. Of course, you'd need more space than that to feed all those people, but it does put things in perspective.

Woah. You learn something new

Woah.

You learn something new every day.

I read somewhere that Mexico is actually the most obese country.... I dunno if it was accurate though

I would have expected it to

I would have expected it to be smaller for Hong Kong... this is about the size of my host family's house in Japan but they live in a rural-ish suburb. If so many people live in 300-square-foot apartments, then there must be some super huge places to average that out...

Sheila: But you’d have lots

Sheila: But you’d have lots of leftover room to raise food. ‘Course not everyone would want to limit themselves to 1700 SF – but in that case, the same is true – lots of room outside “Texas” for those who require more. I’m beginning to ramble. SO sleepy.

Coal: I don’t get it. +1, -1. what does it mean?

Bluewing: “You learn something new every day.” If you’re lucky.

Spirit: That’s what I was going to say to your 1st sentence. I’m sure there is some big money in Hong Kong.
